all the usual windows methods do not work. please before posting a solution, try your solution to see if it works first. i have posted this question before but none of the responses with solutions worked.

In Windows Explorer: Select folder, Ctrl+C, Deselect folder, Ctrl+V. I do it all the time.

Angus,

Do you mean from Bridge?

If so, Just as in Windows Explorer you can control-drag a folder from the right-hand (thumbnails) window to the left-hand folders window to duplicate.

.... and the target has to be different
(e. g. you won't be able to copy a folder "a" from the main level of drive "c" to the main level of drive "c" - it would be copied into itself -> error)

ok - i figured it out - you drag the folder (layer set) onto the new layer icon. it then duplicates everything for you

cheers

What? I’m confused. Are we talking about layers in Photoshop or folders in Bridge and/or Explorer???

Angus was talking about folders and their contents (directories and files). Whether he was thinking about that or layer sets only he can answer.

But we did our best.

Angus, read this: LenHewitt, "How To Get Help Quickly" #, 4 Mar 2004 8:27 am </cgi-bin/webx?50>

angus merely assumed that being in a photoshop forum that the question was clear.

okidoki - sorry about all the confusion. what i was talking about was folders in photoshop also known as layer sets. it uses the folder icon so i just called it a folder. apologies for any confusion.thanks for the effort anyway.

So what's wrong witht the "duplicate layer set" option in the layers palette menu?
#10
Or, click on the Layer Group (<cough> the folder), and drag it to the bottom of the Layers Palette over the New Layer Icon. It will be duplicated.
#11
Or right-click on the layer set in the layers palette and choose "duplicate layer set."
#12
The notions and ideas of nested folders seems difficult but can be managed after time
