save for web: space = hyphen

When I save for web spaces turn into hyphens, and then if I try saving a file with a similar name as something that already exists ie. file.jpg and I want to save as file2.jpg it doesn't change the file name and it asks if I want to replace the file.jpg.

I've deleted my preferences and it still does this.

It's a setting in SFW Options. Which version of PS you have dictates how you can get to it, but essentially, in SFW, next to the presets boxe, click the triangle and from the menu that pops up, choose Edit Output Settings. Uncheck Unix compatability and that'll allow the spaces.

Peace,

Resetting the Save for Web preferences is a separate action from resetting the PS preferences.

From the FAQ: The Save for Web preferences can be deleted by holding down CTRL+ALT whilst selecting 'Save For Web' in the File Menu.

Before you do that, click on the fly-out arrow top right of the Preset box in the Save for Web dialog, go to "Edit Output Settings..." then select "Saving files" from the second drop-down list and make sure the Mac and Unix boxes are unchecked.

Edit: Slow typing! :(

Worth baring in mind that you should NOT include spaces in file names when saving images for us on the internet.

How do you know he's saving them for us?
Could be his family!
(Sorry, couldn't resist it.)
