Color Management Problem

Last week I upgraded from Photoshop 5.5 to CS2. While the performance hit is annoying, I have a color management problem that's a potential show stopper. I am unable to get the two versions of photoshop to display color identically. In 5.5 I saved the RGB ICC profile, then loaded it into CS2. The colors in CS2 are still significantly less saturated than in 5.5 (The "Desaturate monitor colors" checkbox is unchecked in Advanced Controls)

What's even stranger is that the expected saturation level shows up in the image when I use "Save for Web..." inside of CS2. Any ideas what's going on?

Your monitor isn't profiled. Since Save For Web strips the (faulty) profile from the image, it looks OK then.

Run Adobe Gamma (Control Panel) and save the generated file as "Monitor_[date].icc"

Unfortunately, that didn't remedy the problem. Thanks for the help though.

I should point out that in PS 5.5, The "Save For Web/PNG" image looks identical to the image in PS. Only in CS2 is there such a dramatic desaturation inside of PS/

That's due to a limitation in PS 5.5, it couldn't display images that were not in the working space properly. PS 6 and onward fixed this problem.
