So after searching all over for a way to fix this problem I've given up and I'm gonna post it here.
I just installed CS2 after having used Photoshop 7. In Photoshop CS2 when I make a new document or load an image, it locks up, but I the cursor hover-effect still happens on the tools window and any text boxes can have junk entered into them, everything else doesn't work(can't do anything to the image or click anywhere). I've tried closing all programs and loading PS as soon as I start up, it does the same thing every time. Hopefully somebody will know the remedy to this, or it's back to Photoshop 7 for me.
I'm positive it's not a hardware problem, but here's my stats: Celeron 2.4 GHz
ATI x700 256 MB
1 GB of RAM
