Masks and adjustment layers

Hey all,

I'm pretty new to adjustment layers so I'm wondering if anybody could help me with this...

I have a photo with a person standing against a solid color wall. I created an adjustment layer to increase the amount of red in the face to make it look more "real" but that also carried through to the wall. I like the original color of the wall.

I tried creating masks to protect the wall, but the adjustment of red still carries through to the wall.

How can I set the adjustment effect to work only on the face and not the wall?

Thanks,

Nathaniel

You will need to apply the adjustment layer after you have made the selection of the person, and whilst it is still active. This way, Photoshop should apply a layer mask automatically to the layer, but it's not difficult to add a layer mask to the adjustment layer if you have done it in a different order.
