Sony YUV Color Space?

According to Sony's Broadcast/Pro Technical Assistance, all Sony video camcorders record in the YUV color space

Anyone have any info on how to get a profile for the Sony YUV Color Space?

That's because video and DV use YUV.

It's not a color mode that Photoshop can edit in.

Thank you, Chris.

Every Sony frame I've ever brought into PS looked bad there (but they look really really good on the TV)...

Any clue what Photoshop color space is best to send to Final Cut Pro (for DVD) -- anyone?

This might help (I don't have a clue):

Great link, Ramón.
Looks like it will keep me busy reading up on it :)

The DV frames look bad because they need to be transcoded to proper RGB before you can view or edit them.

Straight into photoshop they will generally look blurry. (4:2:0 talking)

If you have After Effects or Commotion this is pretty easy to do. If you use AE, you can probably define your color space too.

Combustion too, I believe, let's you convert from YUV to RGB.

Great!
I have access to AE 5.5!!

Any clue how I would bring Sony PD150 JPEGs (or frames) into AE, Convert to sRGB, bring them into Photoshop (to work on), then send them back into AE, Convert back to the original space, then bring them back into Final Cut Pro?

Thanks, too, for the Cumbustion tip...will keep my eyes open.

You're saying Adobe After Effects does YUV>RGB & RGB>YUV Conversions -- AND -- 3D (on top of that!)?

Hmmm...wasn't CC working on bringing 3D into PS for V8.0.1???

8.01 is s'posed to be a dead duck.

3d is too big a subject just to drop into a 2d bitmap editor
