Along with the image name, on the top of a 16 bit (or 8 bit) image, Photoshop will show the number of bits either alone or followed by a # or *. What is the meaning of this? For example, say I have a 16 bit image named Sample.tif. It can be

%(RGB/16) or
%(RGB/16#), or
%(RGB/16*)

What is the difference? Does it indicate true 16 bit, 12 bit and 10 bit? In what order? Why is there no explaination in the user manual? I can’t find it.

TIA

Thanks Mike. I couldn’t find that anywhere in Adobe’s documentation.
