Howdy —

So straight to the point — when I load up Photoshop (CS2) right afte it reaches the final step of ‘Reading Preferences’ it stalls for abou 5 seconds and then the main dialog (the one seen during loading) jus disappears and nothing happens my mouse icon just shows the busy ico and Photoshop stops responding entirely.

Any helpful advice on how to solve this problem would be greatl appreciated. The steps I’ve taken myself at attempting to solve thi problem have been uninstalling it, and then reinstalling it.

*Note: I did not restart in between as I do not know if this would’v made a difference.

I have searched related crash threads in the forum in hopes for a already posted answer, however, none of the symptoms described seem t be related to mine.

Thank you in advanced =

If you delete the Preferences file, a new one will be generated when you start up Photoshop CS2. I corrupted Preferences file will cause most of the start-up problems seen in Photoshop. You will loose any customizations you have made – so try to have a list of what they were so that you can add them back in.

The file is: C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\9.0\Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.psp

Help file also suggests this:

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop or ImageReady. You are prompted to delete the current settings.

I have not used that, but you might want to try it first.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer to my problem, however backtracked and tried to figure out what it is I could hav done to cause this problem, my only answer was installing fonts. I ha in the period of 1 day jumped from 2,000 fonts to 7,000 fonts b installing a massive amount — after going through and deleting th masses except for my most used and critical system fonts, this ha solved my problem. For all future references and members who experienc such problems, please take into heavy consideration that you may hav too many fonts for Photoshop/Image Ready to load.

Once again, thanks Scott! :
