I’m running Photoshop 7 on OS 9.2. I’ve always used the Monitor Control Panel to calibrate my monitor, but lately when I start up Photoshop I get a message that my "monitor profile appears to be defective and that I need to rerun my monitor calibration software." I’ve rerun the calibration software over and over. Does any body have any ideas on how to fix this?

Throw out the old profile.

Start from a known default profile.

Rebuild custom profile.

don’t try and overwrite the bad profile.

I’ve been throwing away the calibrated profile, colorsync preferences, and the monitor preferences. It still happens. Maybe I’m missing something.

find out what profile is active in photoshop (Monitors>Color: highlighted (write down its name, then highlight sRGB and reboot)

SEARCH your HD for the old by name.
Trash it (and any old monitor profile)

Then: Monitors> Color: confirm sRGB is highlighted, Calibrate…
