Layer Instances

Is possible to create a "Layer Instances" Element on adobe photoshop?

for example:

imagine that I has a layer and I copy/paste 10 other layer-instances from the first one and past into the scene.

This other 10 references are linked to the first layer in a way that all changes that I do to the first layer, reflects automatically to the other 10 layers.

There is some feature similar to this in Photoshop CS?

I'm not aware of that facility in Photoshop, but why not just duplicate the finished layer?

Yes, I think that Photoshop does not has this feature.

The problem is that there is about 100 identical objects on the scene, and after every change in one object, I need to change all other 99 objects.

yes I can duplicate the layer, but for each change I would need to duplicate them all and place it all again in different places... this is the problem.

A workaround would be a way to link a layer to a external file, so I could link all these objects to a external .psd file is this possible in Photoshop? So changes in this external .psd file would reflect to all 1000 objects and my problem would be solved.

Yes, I think that Photoshop does not has this feature.

PS7 and up have Java script capability, so its possible everything could be achieved using a script. I would sugest contacting Adobe.

Yes, thanks for the tip Kingdom.

I take a look at script stuff and I think that it can help me a lot.

also I think that the new feature "Smart Object" from CS2 (PS9) is what I am looking for.
