Rotating text around sphere ala Universal Studio ... in Photoshop?

OK, my challenge is to create a logo (animated GIF) which consists of some text rotating around a sphere. The text & sphere images were supplied to me as PNG files. I currently have PS CS2 loaded on an old laptop while my main pc awaits a new hard drive.
IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE???? ... or would I be better off unloading the Photoshop & loading/trying Flash or something like that? I know it can be done in After Effects but can't buy new software at the moment (replacing multi-gig HD).
Any words of advice or inspiration?
Thanks in advance..

Wrapping the text around the globe can be achieved by using the new Warp feature in CS2's Transform menu.

Making enough variations to create an animated gif, however, could be quite a long-winded procedure!

Thanks Chris, I was afraid of that :-(
I used the warp to get the text to curve around the sphere beautifully, was just hoping I wouldn't have to create umpteen variations (move-skew-move-skew...) to fake the orbiting part... (heavy sigh....)
Thanks also for the fast response! :-)

Take a look at the Photoshop 6 WOW book. Page 440 "Animating with Actions". You should be able to find it at your local book store.

First take a look at page 332 "Designing for Scalability and Animation" in Photoshop 6 WOW book.

you can do that easily in After fx as you stated. You can also do it in SwishMAX

I would reccomend SwishMAX~

or ImageReady but it would be frame by frame...you can save it out of ImageReady as a .swf however....
