CS2 Copying in layers pallet (Layer via copy/cut)

WHY oh why did they take out these?
Does anyone know a work around besides Ctrl C/V ???
I used this all the time....now I cant select something and easly copy/cut it to a new layer with perfect placement.
Anyone know if there is a way to turn it on...am I missing something. If anyone from Adobe reads this...PLEASE put these options back in...please.

Ctrl+J ?

Copy via layer Control + J
Cut via layer Shift + Control + J

Also they are still there under Layer>New...
