Hi,
One of my Photoshop users has sent me this email. I am not big on this sort of thing so thought I would ask this forum. Does anyone have the answer to the following?
Basically the niggle is, is that in Photoshop CS color settings ‘conversion options’ are different to Photoshop 7 & 6 as follows:
Photoshop 6, Apple CMM: Default White = C=0% M=0% Y=0% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop 6, Apple Color Sync: Default White = C=1% M=1% Y=1% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop 6, Adobe (ACE): Default White = C=0% M=0% Y=0% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop 7, Apple CMM: Default White = C=0% M=0% Y=0% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop 7, Apple Color Sync: Default White = C=1% M=0% Y=1% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop 7, Adobe (ACE): Default White = C=0% M=0% Y=0% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop CS, Apple CMM: Default White = C=1% M=1% Y=1% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop CS, Apple Color Sync: Default White = C=1% M=1% Y=1% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
Photoshop CS, Adobe (ACE): Default White = C=0% M=0% Y=0% K=0% / R=255 G=255 B=255
These values also change further if you change relative, absolute, perceptual intent settings.
Now this may be right (due some mathematical formula), but I would have thought that base values of pure white (i.e. no colour at all) would be the same. Even if they were weighted to minimum highlight for CMYK they are wrong and the scum dot produced is no use to anyone.
Best wishes
Michael
