Noise filter not working photoshop freezes

I'm using Photoshop CS on a Mac G4 with System 10.3.4. Whenever I try to run the noise filter, the cursor turns into a hollow square and photoshop freezes. I have to do a "force quit" and relaunch photoshop. This consistantly happens every time. Any idea on what the problem might be?

Try quitting, trash your photoshop preferences, then relaunch photoshop.
