I just got this message on a file I was working on yesterday.
I had been opening PDFs and resaving them as PSDs I was clicking on the names in the save dialog to save time renaming the files most of my files were PSDs but the PDFs were being saved as layered tiffs, even though the file name said .psd
when I went to open the file I got the message "not a vaild photoshop file". Changing the extension to .tif the file opened fine.
So the moral of the story is to make sure that the file extension is correct when you save.
Should this be a FAQ? if so I’ll make it one.
