Working on Mac G4, 0S9.1, PS 6, 1gig of memory devoted to PS, plenty of scratch disk space.

The Problem: Starting with a lo res file layered PS file, rezzing up to 1200 dpi (to use as a template for the HiRes). Saves to disk– 800 mb — no problem. When trying to reopen, get the error message "Cannot open the file *** because the result would be too big".

Have worked with 2 gig files before with this same config. In over ten years of using Photoshop I never saw this before.

Any ideas?

You may have an image that will go over 30,000 pixels even though the file size is still within limits. Photoshop CS ups the limit to 300,000 pixels.

Peter is absolutely right. That’s 30,000 pixels in any one direction, width or height.

Thank you both for this information. I’m running right up to that 30,000 limit, I’ll retry it with slightly less res and see what happens.
