New Color swatch set from Image or selection?

Corel Painter has a feature in which you can generate a new color set (swatch palette) from an image or a selection within an image. Is there a similar feature in PS CS? I find building up a new set swatch by swatch pretty tedious. Seems to me I saw an article in Photoshop User that featured this many months ago and now I can’t find it!
