InterfaceLib -- GetComponentResource

I have three macs and one is now giving me SERIOUS troubles. The older one is a G3 grey box (about 7 years old) running on OS9.2. Yesterday we started having issues and one thing lead to another and so we thought we would reinstall Photoshop 7.0. However, we now cannot do that cuz the error keeps popping up that sez :InterfaceLib -- GetComponentResource could not be found. WHAT IS THIS???

We found a help feature on the adobe site that sez to install quicktime 6.0. Problem here is that I can only find Quicktime 6.5 and when I try to install it, the Stuffit utility will not lauch cuz it sez: InterfaceLib -- GetComponentResource cannot be found... I must be in the twilight zone or something!!!

Anybody got any ideas? What is this mysterious InterfaceLib and what does it do and how can I get my qucktime & photoshop programs reloaded?

Dear gballard
Thank You for your qucik response. When I click on the help menu item like you suggest I get the same error message :"InterfaceLib -- GetComponentResource could not be found" and I cannot run a search.

However, this time it tells me that I might need to load a newer version of :InterfaceLib -- GetComponentResource.

Apple Support Knowledgebase (filename 2eb56.htm) sez to check for quicktime version numbers under control panels but quicktime is missing. Everything points to the same error message and I cannot proceed. Can you tell me what this :"InterfaceLib -- GetComponentResource" is? How did I "lose" it? Can I copy it from one of my other machines? (one is OS10.3 the other is OS9.2)

My suggestion would be to do a clean install of Mac OS and update it all the way to 9.2.2

What Ann says

My suggestion would be to do a clean install of Mac OS and update it all the way to 9.2.2

I would go even a little farther and suggest that you take this opportunity to back up everything and erase your hard drive (write it to zeros) before reinstalling the system and updating it to 9.2.2.

If I am not mistaken, InterfaceLib -- GetComponentResource is an extension installed with Quicktime. It seems to be the case, that this is either damaged or deactivated or simply missing. Check your Extensions Manager (in the Control Panels) and see if it is there. If necessary, activate it and reboot the Mac. If you need an older Qt version, I would try something like versiontracker.com. They may have older versions in their download archive.
