Distort ( Diffuse Glow, Ocean Ripple, Glass ) not working (Photoshop CS)

system in use; Mac OS panther, 512 Ram, 1.25ghz g4

Nature of problem: above mentioned filters can only be applied once (immediate after program and computer started), subsequent application has got absolutely no effect. Does not even register in history. Seems like after u click apply, filter decided to quit. File size made no difference.

Any help greatly appreciated.

They’re working fine here in 8-bit images.

More details might help, like maximum % of available memory allocated to Photoshop, disk size, disk space available, nature of the images, whether you have the proper layer selected when you go to apply the filter, etc.,

As usual I suggest you reset preferences and see if it works.

finally found the problem (after reinstalling os x, using a few more months blah blah blah)

filters started not working gradually again, tracing back my steps i realised in just installed virex 7.5 beta. did a complete uninstall of virex in safe boot, eureka! everything back to norm!

What the hell do you need Virex for?

And a BETA version, at that?
