We are running photoshop CS on a Mac G5 with 2 1/2 gigs of ram. Recently when I try to double click the colored squares in the tool bar, to access the color palette, whatever tool I had previously selected converts to the eyedropper tool and the color wheel does not appear. Further more, this action then freezes photoshop only fixed by pressing the escape button. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help

Try trashing your preferences. Sounds like the pallet is off the screen.

Did you have dual monitors hooked up?

In addition to the above, your mention o the color wheel makes me think you are using the Apple color picker rather than the Adobe color picker. It would probably be better if you used the Adobe picker.
