Nikon Coolscan nef plug-in

Does adobe make a plug in for CS (win platform) for using the nef format from a Nikon Scanner? The regular nikon nef plug-in does not work with scanned files.

Thanks for any assistance.

Did you try the Adobe DNG converter?

Dear Art:

Thanks, but yes, I tried the nikon plug-ins I could find on the download list. Unless I missed this one, that is. Is this separate from the rest of the nikon stuff?

It's a separate Adobe product, Dan.

Although I haven't checked it for any type of scanner info at all -- I just know it's the mechanism Adobe is pushing for RAW file conversion.

Thanks...I have downloaded it and installed it and am creating a new nef scan to see what happens. I will let you know...d

Dear Art:

Alas, the converter did not work; still getting the 'wrong type of file' error message.

Thanks anyway...d

Nikon scanner files won't work with ACR. Nikon uses the same extension for their camera and scanner files, which (as you've learned) are not the same thing.

Got it....sorry about that. So does this all mean that scanner raw files can only be processed by nikon's little program?

Yes, but I think that you can export in Tiff 16bit, wich should cover most of your needs.

You can thank Nikon for the confusion due to their naming conventions...

Thanks, Pierre. Their editor is ok but not as comprehensive as adobe's.
