CTRL Key makes move cursor when using magic wand

Hi. Long time PS user. Using CS2 ver 9. This problem came out of the blue. Problem is. When I have an image and I am using the magic wand to select, I can't add areas by holding down the ctrl key and clicking on other areas. The cursor turns into the move cursor. Anybody got an idea what is going on. (I uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail) Thanks

You should be holding down the SHFT key to add to your selection..
