I am seeing this spinning wheel a lot more often in 8 than I am in 7 while processing. This is the usual scenario. Working on large image up to 2 gigs in 7 and 4 gigs in 8. I try to stay in 7 as much as possible as we have lost files in 8 at times.
I will usually apply a adjustment ( image size, save file, transformation, apply filter or something similar.
It starts to apply it and I see the progress bar ( can this progress bar get fixed to be accurate ) I then decide to stop or cancel by cancel button or command period. I then get the wheel of death that hangs for several minutes locking up photoshop while it is processing. Why does photoshop lock up while processing? why can't I multi task or at least move around in different windows of PS???
If I'm stopping the process, why is it hanging at all and processing for several minutes?
Thanks

I am seeing this spinning wheel a lot more often...4 gig (files) in
8.
That sounds normal for 4gb files, your scratchdisk is busy?
we have lost files in 8 at times.
That sounds like you have something else going on (not normal)

Have you run the Cron scripts and Repaired Permissions?
Try that. And get Cocktail -- it does all this, and more, for you so quickly and easily.

Thanks.
I got cocktail, but not sure what I need to do with it?
Can you tell me what I need to run in it?

Launch Cocktail:
Choose Pilot.
Check everything on the first dialog and set to "Automatically: Restart" then click Options and check everything except "Cookies".
Return to main panel and click "RUN".
It will take just a few minutes and should improve performance generally.
