I have a very reliable Photoshop 6.01 with several plug ins, I just got my copy of CS2 and I was advised to uninstall PS 6 before installing CS2. When I go to add remove programs I not only see PS6 but all my plug ins. Should I uninstall PS6 only or with all my plugins? I think I read something about copying and pasting the plugins into CS2. I have Windows 2000 and a 3 year old computer so I want to make this installation as smooth as possible. Should I keep PS6 installed until CS2 is working properly? Is it better to reinstall my plugins from scratch? Any issues with w2k?

Yes. Keep it installed until you are happy using CS2.

Yes, and it is a good idea to install 3rd party plugins to a separate folder which you can then nominate as PS's additional plugin folder.

one thing to bear in mind is if you uninstal PS 6 later you will lose all of your file and icon associations, so you will have to uninstall cs2 and then reinstall it again. especially for the icon associations.

Yes, they're designed to do so, to give you time to become fully conversant with the new version whilst still having the old version available for production work

File associations can be reset with the "open with" command in Windows. Icons, I'm not sure what you mean. You can go into a file's properties and assign an icon, if you want.
