Photoshop 7 on Windows XP

I’d like to convert the darkest value in a grayscale image to the CMYK build of 80/90/100/20…. leaving me with a "brownscale" image. (The darkest value needs to be retained as the final build value in the end conversion.)

There’s got to be an easy way to do this but I’m brain dead as usual.

Thank you!
Jerry

"Image-Mode-Duotone"?

Duotone won’t do it, but Quadtone will. You can either do what you want by converting to CMYK and manually setting your black point to the numbers you want, or by making a quadtone duotone out of your grayscale and specifying process Cyan, Magenta and Yellow as your quadtone colors. In the quadtone curves adjustment, set the endpoints to the values you want.

A gradient map might also do the job

Try this:

Image mode>cmyk.

Then add a layer effect of color and set the blend mode to color. Use the CMYK mix you want.
