Can't place a file

I just upgraded to Photoshop 7, and everything worked great, then I had a system crash, so I had to reinstall everything. Now when I go under FILE to PLACE an illustrator EPS, the PLACE dropdown in grayed out? Any suggestions?

Hope you mean Photoshop7.0.1. What operating system are you on (exact version please)?

You should start by trashing your Photoshop preferences first.
