Hello
I have been looking at how the new CS2 lens Correction filter works. It is a useful filter, but does not quite cut it.
I have a demo that shows that it does correct for barrel distortion, but leaves a considerable corner ‘hook’.
I have a demo PSD. The other filter is one called Flo’s undistort. This can make three corrections, which will pretty well remove a corner ‘hook’, as well as the distortion.
The lens is a Canon 17-85 zoom, on a 20D. I don’t own either, but am considering them. This lens seems to have a lot of barrel and chromatic distortion. ACR is terrific at removing chromatic distortion, but as I say, Photoshop’s lens correction is really not there yet.
I find that in fact the warp tool is better at removing barrel distortion, because it does not result in a hook.
