How would you move your keyword sets or just lists of keywords from Photoshop CS (file browser) to Photoshop CS2 (Bridge) ? The only way i see is to write one complete set in Photoshop CS into a picture, then load that into Bridge and put the new keyword arrivals into one set. But that’s a hassle, and even more so when some sets have partly the same keywords.

This also applies to metadata templates.

Any good idea? Thank you!

Henrik,

I posted a response to your query on the Mac forum. Now I see you raise the same question on the Windows forum. Since the answer is probably of benefit to Windows users as well I’ve copied it below.

Bridge should be able to automatically import your existing File Browser keywords and keyword sets. This assumes that the File Browser "Keywords.psb" file is located in its default location (Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings). If Bridge isn’t picking up on your existing keywords you will need to delete the file named "Adobe Bridge Keywords.abdata" for the "Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge\Adobe Bridge Keywords.abdata folder". Relaunch Bridge.

There should be no problem picking up existing metadata templates if they’ve been saved in the correct location

For some reason Bridge occasionally appears to not pick up on the existing File Browser Keyword Sets. BTW: This feature was a very late addition to Bridge and isn’t documented, which goes long way to explaining why previous queries by others produced erroneous replies.

I’m pleased to see this Ian. I have looked for a method but have been unable to import the Keywords so far. Since the Keywords I allocated in Photoshop CS are useful for searches on the 1000s of old pictures and scans I have, I would be grateful if you could explain how to do it.

John,

I thought I had explained it above. The key info (forgive the pun) is:

Bridge should be able to automatically import your existing File Browser keywords and keyword sets. This assumes that the File Browser "Keywords.psb" file is located in its default location (Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings). If Bridge isn’t picking up on your existing keywords you will need to delete the file named "Adobe Bridge Keywords.abdata" for the "Documents and Settings\USER\Application
Data\Adobe\Bridge\Adobe Bridge Keywords.abdata folder". Relaunch Bridge.

Importing the FB keywords sets should be automatic the first time you launch Bridge after installing it. In my case it would work because I had the Bridge abdata hanging around for months so Bridge assumed that it was up to date. Unfortunately the auto import feature is VERY recent so my version of abdta wasn’t compatible.

OK, Now I get it. I had not deleted "Adobe Bridge Keywords.abdata".

Thanks for that.
