Colour shift when in photoshop

No matter what I import from ie Camera, file or scanner, Photoshopgives the imagea magenta cast. The image is OK in ACDsee, Pic Publisher and Kodak Photodesk .Where is the colourshift taking place

Could be several things, but It's probably your working space profile. Click on Edit>Color Settings and set your RGB working space to sRGB.

from my experence files in different colorspaces seldom cause serious color casts.

Another likely possibility is that photoshop's display profile is incorrect.

This can happen when you unlock the gamma sliders in the Adobe Gamma control panel. If you have done this, I recommend clicking on the box that joings the R, G, and B gamma sliders into a single slider.
