As the title states, I made some Photoshop EPS files, 150MB > 200MB in size. When I open the folder containing the EPS files (x5) Windows(XP Pro) Explorer slows to a crawl!
Even though the display method is Details not thumbnail view, It takes minutes to even show the eps icon. Copying to a CD takes longer to view and select the files as it does to burn them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
PS: the PSD original files that are slightly larger file sizes display as quickly as any other file.

What version of Photoshop are you using?
Do you have Illustrator installed? What version?
It sounds like the Explorer is trying to create thumbnails for the EPS files - which can take a lot of time.

Made the eps files on Photoshop 7 & CS (2 dif PCs). And yes, Illustrator CS is on Both. Why would Windows try to make thumbnails of the files if it wasn't in thumbnail view(it was in 'Details' view)?
If so, how would I go about disabling this? It's no joke having to wait 3 mins to select a few files for burning, and the same again after!

Try searching for aiicon.dll and renaming it to aiicon.old

No luck finding aiicon.dll. Where do you think it should/could be?

It should be in the system or part of Illustrator.
I know it was installed with Illustrator CS (and removed in CS2).

Aha! Such a dummy! I was looking for it on my PC (which has CS2 installed) not my laptop! I'll look tomorrow, it's at work.

Sorry about that. The APIs Microsoft provided for enhancing the explorer look good - but they have a number of bugs that tend to leave files open for reading and prevent applications from writing to the files, and then there's the performace/interruptability issue, and....
Photoshop and Illustrator both eventually had to give up on explorer icons.
