Hi,
I worked on a file for hours and suddenly my computer crashed when importing an imgage to PS ( Was version 7.0 ). After that I can´t open the file! It says "Could not complete your request because file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop". I´ve tried to open it in version 6 av CS but get the same error. Does anyone know how I can open the file again…I really need to open it. During my 9 years using PS I´ve never seen this happen. I use XP if that´s for any help? Thanks in advance.

Johan

Looks like the file might be corrupt.

If it’s a file you worked on and saved using PS7, you might try downloading the free 7.0.1 update from the Adobe website. See if will open in this. If it does, save it under another name and then try opening in CS.

Did you not have a back-up of the file? If you’ve never lost a file in nine years you’ve probably allowed yourself to be lulled into a false sense of security. I’ve always got yesterday’s version of my files to fall back on should the need arise.

Thanks Chris, I will try it out and hope it works. I´ve been lucky obviously, until now. Never lost a file…but will follow your advice from now on.

Thanks
