Text tool stuck in mask

this seams to happen from time to time,, I’m sure its just a key command

when I use the text tool it is in mask mode, how do I get it back to normal?

In the tool bar, click and hold on the text tool, you’ll see the other text tool variants show up….or you can Shift>T until it toggles back to the standard text tool.
