I tried this and it did not solve my problem, running windows 2000 professional on a intel motherboard clone, I get this error when starting all adobe products. Did this solve the original persons issue and is the fix true for windows 2000 also?

According to this Microsoft note from 2001, it's an ATI video driver issue, where a Win95 driver is installed but doesn't work under Win2K:

Before doing the registry fix suggested, I would see if there is a Win2K driver for your video card available from ATI.
