Differences between Photoshop 7 and Photoshop CS and Illustrator 7 and Illustrator CS

I have recently obtained Adobe Creative Suite Standard which combines full versions of Adobe Photoshop CS w/Adobe ImageReady CS; Adobe Illustrator CS; and Adobe InDesign CS. Before our IS dept will install, I need to know:

What is the major differences between Photoshop 7.0 and Photoshop CS; and Illustrator 7.0 and Illustrator CS? I subscribe to "Inside Photoshop" and many of the tasks call for Photoshop CS which I don't have installed yet, but if there are no big advantages, I won't install the software. Thanks.

Do you really mean version 7 of illustrator? Photoshop, went from version 7 to version CS, illustrator went from version 10 to version cs.

just obtained a 1200 dollar package but don't think i'm going to bother installing it? hmm...
