Tiff files won't delete - "sharing violation"

I've converting some files to .tif from .psd.

When I attempt to delete the files from a hard drive, I am informed there's a "sharing violation" and that the files may be in use by another program.

This happens when I have no programs open.

The computer, windows 2000, is a stand-alone used only for Photoshop CS.

Anybody else had this problem, perhaps know the fix?

Bringing up the Task Manager and checking to see what processes are running will probably answer your question.

I know what you are saying. The task manager will only show that there are Photoshop is running. The problem is that these files are still "in memory". Sometimes. if you close Photoshop, you can then delete the individual files. This does not always work for deleting the entire folder. The solution is to restart the computer and then delete the files and /or folder.

I get this if photoshop is opening that directory. (even when the app is closed)
Go into PS and browse to a different directory to the one you wish to delete and then open an image from it..
now go back and try and delete the files. You should find it works now, and it'll stop you from having to restart just to delete.
