Folks,
There’s a ton of color photography these days where the overall look is dark and rich, yet with saturated colors and good contrast. A good example is the work Annie Leibovitz does especially the Feb cover of Vanity Fair magazine. Can anyone explain what the effect is and how to create it ?

Thanks as always for your generous assistance !

If you are going to be printing the work then your particular printer will know best what kind of range and what the proofs should look like to calibrate for the richest colors without overdoing it. As far as Photoshop is concerned you have a saturation and contrast adjustment menu. I’ve not heard of a trick. Increase the contrast and saturation as an experiment.

If you do learn a technique please post it.
