transform selection

Hello

I overheard the favouring for cropping with the marqueetool here. And indeed it gives some handy options like cropping with a fixed aspect ratio. But what I miss is a shortcut to the transform selection tool, which would make me use the marquee cropping method as my favourite. I searched for a shortkey but it does not seem to exist
And you can only make an action of a transformation and not selecting the transform selection option.
Is this conclusion right?

If so, what a pity.

If you have the CS version of Photoshop, you can assign keyboard shortcuts to various functions. Otherwise, you're stuck going to Select > Transform Selection with your mouse. :-(

I have 7. Good to hear that in CS this new function is implemented. i just upgraded Painter

Transforming a selection itself is different than transforming the pixels that are selected. Using the mouse to go to Select >Transform Selection, gives different results than pressing the keys ALT+S+T. Transform Selection transforms only the selection itself, not the pixels within the selected portion of that layer . ALT+S+T transforms the selection as well as the selected pixels. I read the OP's difficulty as pertaining to the Transforming of the selection only, not in transforming the actual pixels.

Normally, the keyboard shortcut is listed next the menu item. Select

Transform Selection has none, at least in Photoshop 7.01. But I thought the

ability to assign your own Keyboard Shortcuts was new to CS.

CTRL+T = transform the CONTENT of the selection.
ALT+S+T = transform the selection itself.

This isn't customer stuff. These are default keyboard shortcuts in PS:CS.

I believe you. When I first tried the shortcut on PS 7 (the version the OP was using), it moved the pixels, so I replied accordingly. This morning, after a new boot of the program, I tried it and it worked just as you'd claimed. Cool! It's not a shortcut that I knew about, but one I will remember. CTRL+T, I use often. I appreciate your patience with me. :-)
