Scripting: Selecting Layers

Hi,

I'm having some real problems getting my Javascript just to select layers. I have a layer named "normal" and no matter what I do I can't get the script to select this (or any other) named layer and it's really getting on my nerves!

Can anyone out there help.

What are you trying to get the layer to do? On what event is the action triggered? I do this sort of stuff in Dreamweaver.
