I'm scanning complex black & white line drawings that need to be converted to single color line drawings and/or multiple color line drawings. I am very new at using PhotoShop 7. What is the best way to convert the black lines to color lines.? The magic wand does not pick them up cleanly. Many thanks... I'm stumped. Running Windows XP

There are at least three ways to do anyting in Photoshop. That said, try this.
Add a Solid Color adjustment layer and change the blend mode. At the bottom of the Layers Palette, there's a half white half black circle. Click that and choose Solid Colr.
A color picker comes up. Choose the color that you want, and accept the color. Then in the Layers palette change the Blend Mode to Screen.
That's one way, anyhow.
Peace,

What do you need to do with these drawings?" If importing into another program (Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkXPress, etc.) then you can leave them a black & white bitmaps and colourize them in the second program. This will keep your files (compressed TIFs from Photoshop) small, and your PDFs sharp, because the image won't be downsampled as a CYMY or RGB image, but as a bitmap.
