MMX Core Routines

I'm getting the error - "Could not load the MMX Core Routines module because it does not work with this version of Photoshop."
This error occurs after I set the Additional Plug-Ins under Elements Preferences so I can use Genuine Fractals 3.0 Plug-In loaded in my Photoshop 5.5 Plug-In folder.
I bypass the error and Elements 2 seems to be OK. Am running XP SP1 and Elements 2. Any ideas why the error or what are the MMX Core Routines?

I think that the old MMX core plugin is not valid for the newer Elements . If you're still using Photoshop 5.5, perhaps you should create a different "common Plugin" folder and copy the plugins to it, without the MMXcore plugin, and set that as your "additional plugins" .

I have both Photoshop 5.5 and Photoshop 7.0 running and had the same problem. It appears that PS7 finds the mmx (Pentium MMX Instruction Set) routines loaded with the PS5 install. I renamed
Photoshop5.5/Plug-ins/Photoshop Only/Extensions (xxExtensions) so the folder would not be found. That takes care of the error in Photoshop
7. This may very well disable mmx in Photoshop 5.5 but I no longer
use it enough to be able to tell and there is no error message. Copying the new PS7 mmx routines into PS5.5 does not work. I guess the bottom line is that you need to have the correct files in your Extensions folder and no outdated Adobe mmx files elsewhere on the machine.

By way of a PS. My Photoshop 7.0 looked in the Plug-Ins folder of Photoshop 5.5 for KPT 5 and KPT 6 plug-Ins. I installed duplicate copies of the two KPT plugins in the Photoshop 7 Plug-Ins folder. I am now able to unhide the Extensions folder of Photoshop 5 without causing the MMX Core Routines error to reappear.
