change color, keep texture….How would I do this????

I havent really worked with masking, layers or changing color and texture. I am trying to change the following glares on the 2 pics below. They were shot wrong and we need to change these images. If we had these products here, we could re-shoot them, but we do not. The blue glare on the heel is what I need to change back to normal. The images will be 400X400 and smaller, so it doesnt have to be that intense.

I dont really need step by step, I just would like the best way to do this, and I can find some info somewhere or if you have suggests, Thanks in advance!!!

Jason,

Create a duplicate layer and leave it the active layer

Click eyedropper on inner face of shoe’s heel to set foreground color

Edit > Fill with foreground color

Change layer blend mode to Color

If you’re just trying to take the blue out, you could also put a Hue/Sat adjustment layer, turn down the saturation, and use the mask to affect just that highlight area. Since it’s a black shoe, this approach should work. I tried it, and found that it was more convincing to put the opacity of the adjustment layer to about 70%, since it’s not completely black and white.

Jason didn’t say which version of PS he was using. George’s solution covered it nicely, I thought. If PS CS, the Color Replacement Tool would work well here.

I am using PS 7.

The healing brush isnt getting the correct texture. There is supposed to be a glare there, it is just isnt supposed to be blue.

Glen’s approach is exactly how i needed to do it. ThankS to everyone!

The sponge tool can also work as a spot-desaturator.

Ok, How about something like this…..

Glen’s approach easily helped me change the colors of the solid colors, But what about the following images. Multi-colored? threads and sole, tags etc, stay the same. Say I would want to change the images below’s leather to black. What would be the best way to accomplish this?

You can use channels in this example; the blue channel showed a lot of contrast between the yellow threads and the brown leather:

Copy this, create a new channel, and use levels to increase the contrast. This will be your mask. I had to run levels once, blur it a bit, and then run levels again. There are also some areas (like the shadow area where the toes go) I needed to paint in on the mask. You can use a simple path or even use the lasso tool to select the upper edge of the sole, and then you can use a very rough selection to take out the rest of the sole. Something like this:

Now, you can add a Hue/Sat adjustment layer and take down the saturation all the way (using the previously created mask for the adjustment layer). There might be a spot here and there that you want to mask, like the little patches of sole that are visible. Then you can use levels, curves, or whatever to darken the leather. In this case, I just duped the background layer, set it to multiply, and used the mask (the Hue/Sat layer is above this layer):
