Upgraded from PS 7 to PS CS2. I notice a difference between the layer pallets on both versions in that PS 7 has a check box next to the view/hide layer icons and PS CS2 doesn't. In PS 7 the box was used to select the layer. In CS2 I just click on the layer. Is this correct or am I missing a setting in CS2? Not a big deal, just curious.

As usual if I done a bit more Googling before posting I would have answered my own question! Indeed the linking feature has changed in CS2. Multiple selecting is not that hard to adjust to but there is some difference of opinion on this "improvement". See below. http://photoshop.weblogsinc.com/2005/06/09/linking-layers-in -cs2/#comments
I only read the first reactions (link) and me too, at first, had those feelings about the layer palette.
But after getting used to it (took about a week) I am very happy with the way things work now.
Multiple selections of layers to move, merge, scale, distort... without having to link them is a real timesaver.
And if needed, you still can link them. Shift-Select the layers and click the link icon.
Work with the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-E, Alt-Ctrl-E...) and you're in heaven :-)
The little arrow flyout menu also has lot's of other options to work with layers too.
Once you forget how it used to work, it is very intu
