How do I get detail view as default

In CS I keep getting files in the list view and I want the detail view. When I display the files in the detail view, open a file, close it and list the files again they are back in the list view.

Any suggestions?

Can't be done. It's an O/S thing not a Photoshop thing, and applies to all applications
