I am trying to replace a image scanning process that currently utilizes an older industrial scanner. For the replacement process have hooked up an HP ScanJet and are using Photoshop 7 to manipulate the images.

Our issue is that the image created must be fed into a job stream that (unfortunately) looks for very specific values in the TIFF tags. Thus we have the need to achieve the specific format listed in the title (single-stripped, G4 compressed TIFF, – also 200×200 resolution, B&W but these are easy to set).

I have not seen anything thus far in PS7 that allows for modification of the number of strips or allows for G4 compression (other than the standard LZW, etc.) Does anyone have any suggestions? If not, I am also open to other options for getting at these specific formats (such as a straightforward way to manipulate the actual tags).

Thanks in advance.

Photoshop does not save TIFF files in the G3 or G4 fax formats.

And getting all the tags set that specifically would be difficult.

Creo CTK will give you what you want.

Photoshop is not geared for such a request.

That the same as CCITT Fax 3 and 4?

If so, IrfanView will do it.
And you could batch the saves also.

I don’t know what single stripped is, though.

The FREE libtiff <http://www.libtiff.org/> toolkit will do this – see tiffcp <http://www.libtiff.org/man/tiffcp.1.html>. Windows <http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/tiff.htm> is one of its supported platforms.

I’m not really sure exactly what you’re saying but something along the line of "tiff doesn’t work, what else?"I am assuming that you can modify the pictures in Photoshop 7 so duplicate them and save as jpeg.No probs.
