I have a .gif file that I need to make adjustement to the text, specifically, add more text. I do not have the original file or how it was created. I have searched the support section way too long and can't find what I am looking for...can somebody lead me in this process? Thanks!

You can read the GIF into PS OK. There is not "text", only pixels. So you cannot change the text that's there. Maybe you can erase it, if you want. Now change to RGB mode. You can now add more text. Lastly you can do a Save As to GIF.

What Mac said is a good start. Erasing is all a matter of what's behind the thing you're trying to get rid of ... If the backgroud ["behind" the unwanted text] is a solid colour, just sample it [with the dropper tool] and paint over the letters.

If you have time, I always find I can learn a thing or two by completely recreating the image. I learned AI by duplicating some logos that we only had low-rez GIF's of. I got good at making them into EPS's by re-drawing them.
