Color Picker Question

I have tried to find this but will little luck. In the color picker there are various button above the R,G,B buttons.

I believe they are H,S and B are they Hue, Saturation and Brightness?

Next are the ones on the right labeled L,a,b ? What are they?

Anyone know a good site to learn more about color picker, in particular Hue, Values, Intensities and color schemes. I am learning this stuff but nothing
has clicked in so far!

Thanks,

Yes.

Luminance, alpha, beta. A mathematical color space that is designed to reproduce all the colors the human eye can see. The other color spaces, such as RGB and CMYK, can not reproduce every color the eye can see; Lab can (though of course your monitor can't, since your monitor is an RGB device).
