Help with Image Size

215 views3 repliesLast post: 4/30/2006
I load camera images from 6MP camera - Photoshop says they are 2112 x2816 pixels.
However, it also says the image size is 29.33 x 39 inch. I want to make a collage on a
12 x 18 inch paper - reducing the image size really reduces the resolution of the photo.

what am I missing here?

thanks

Reducing the image size only reduces the resolution if you check 'Resample Image'. Uncheck that option and you will see that reducung the print size will increase the resolution with the same amount, so that the total pixel size does not change.

You can reduce the image size WITHOUT reducing resolution.

Go to the Image Size command. See the checkbox called "Resample?" In English, "resample" means "change the number of pixels." You can reduce the size of the image in inches, and if you have "resample" turned off, you will not reduce the number of pixels.
