Help with Photoshop CS menu languages

1263 views15 repliesLast post: 6/26/2004
Maybe I am getting crazy but I am pretty sure that my Photoshop CS was entirely in English.

Now after some time, and a French friend being my guest at home (which unfortunately I will not be able to reach for the next year), the program menus became French !!!!

Everything but the help is in French !!!

What happened ??? I cannot find any menu or option to get it back in English as it was ...

Here are some info. Thank you.

Maybe you are ...

PS is shipped in various language versions. It is not possible to change language within the software.

Were you concerned that being French may be infectious? :-)

You have posted your serial number there.
#3
Marco,

I've removed the serial number from your post.

Please be very careful in the future when posting this type of info. While it's not the complete serial number, it's enough for the pirates.

Marco,

I don't have CS, but I would try going to the Windows Control Panel | Regional and Language Options.

Sounds like your friend enabled some French support options. Go to the Languages tab and click on the Details button. Remove any installed language services you don't need.

Also check the Advanced tab and make sure things are set for English.

No, that won't affect it.

Your friend installed a French version of Photoshop.

The only way to get it back to English is to remove that and install an English version of Photoshop.
#6
Wow. Now that's some kind of house guest: comes with his own copy of Photoshop and installs it on your computer while you're in the kitchen preparing steak tartare.
#7
Yeah, and to think I had always assumed that installing software surreptitiously went best with mutton, saltpork, hard tack and meade.
#8
As cooking isn't involved, you could prep the steak tartare right by the computer and keep an eye on your guest.

I still think being French is catching ... [But I'm English and there's at least 1000 years of history behind my attitudes. :-) ]
#9
He doesn't just install it. He installs it over your English version. Could be a French thing, I guess.

Colin, you're right. I keep a meat grinder next to my computer (it doubles as a pencil sharpener). The moment he tries to pop in that install CD, I'd grab his hand and... sharpen it.

And I thought steak tartare was made with horse meat ...

Different kind of sharpening from what we normally hear about around here. :-)

I have second thoughts about the French, since that discussion between Arthur (King of the Brittains) and that French knight in MP & the Holy Grail.

Ok,
I could not find a sharpenere large enough for his hand, but I suspect I could use it for some other protruding organ :)

This guy came to my house with is portable and a bunch of CDs and it COULD be that he installed his version over mine.

I am Italian but am used to English programs and even though I love French girls, cuisine and some of it's countyside I hate French interfaces !!

So I must reinatll my English version from scratch !!! 8-<<<<

OK.

Sorry for the serial exposition. Thought the support info could be useful and public.

Thank you to everyone helping (less those talking about the horrid tartare 8->).

AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH !!!! French MUST be infectious.

I have reinstalled my English version from CD over the French version and the menus are STILL FRENCH !!!

I have uninstalled the French version from the control panel using the "uninstall thoroughly" option.

Windows environment (Regional options) do not mention French at all.

Is anyone aware if there could be some external preference file which is NOT uninstalled properly and where somehow one could indicate the menu languages ??

Thank you.
Marco

That sounds like you have it installed in 2 places (or more).

No, the French strings are in with the Photoshop application.

There is no external preference - it's part of the install.
#15
Because of the recent brouhaha Adobe is now calling it Liberty Photoshop not French Photoshop ,,,,,,,,, or so President Bush believes ......
