OT: Network PC to MAC

I know it's off topic, but I'm not getting clear answers from an IT forum, & I'm sure there must be other studios; labs; etc who use & network both PC's & MAC's for graphics files.

I use PC's for Photoshop CS, the studios use MAC for their digital capture (Phase One). The studio now wants me to process their files.
I therefore need to network WIN2K with OS X.

Network cable is already in place, going thru a switch as MAC uses the LAN for the Internet/Email.

I've been told to load AppleTalk Protocol on the Win2K SP4. Done. Don't know of any set up requirements tho, if any.

How to set up the MAC? Is there a similar Protocol to set up as in Win2K? I've had vague answers mentioning SMB & AppleTalk on the MAC, I'm a bit confused, not being a MAC person.
I've also been informed I must purchase software called DAVE in order for the MAC to see PC & vice versa.

So if anyone has a similar set up, ie PC's (Win2K)& MAC's (OS X) networked on a WORKGROUP, I would REALLY appreciate some help!!

Thanks

You don't have to enable AppleTalk - MacOS X will happily connect to Windows servers.

You just tell the Macintosh to connect to the Windows server.

Yes, it really is that easy.

(And it's Macintosh, not MAC)

Many thanks Chris

I was apprehensive over posting the enquiry in this forum so I initially tried 2CPU. The few replies I received made it sound all too complicated. (Not to mention expensive)
Should have come to this excellent forum first!

Win2K & Macintosh(!) OS X are now happily talking to each other! It really was that simple!

Thanks again

86 - yeah, there's a lot of outdated or just plain incorrect information out there about Macintosh compatibility and networking.

Fortunately, it is simple to setup and get working.
