Hi,

Is a pixel the same size on every screen?
I mean does a font size of 12 pixels will be as readable on every screen.

I understand, it could ‘look’ smaller on a bigger scren if the viewer stands farther.

Thanks

No – a pixel’s size depends on the dimensions, and resolution of the monitor.

i thought the font size irrespective of its pixel size was dependent on the individual screen resolution
for example set the font size and then alter your screen resolution and see if theres a difference

Windows software managed to completely mess up image sizes and we have all been suffering ever since.
There were other operating system where you would specify things in terms of displayed size. So instead of 12 pixel type you would say 12 point type. The software would then display so that it was always the same size on the screen.
Most software assumes you are using a 72 dpi screen resolution, although some now assume 96 dpi. Photoshop gets this wrong also when you try to use the display at print size feature.

No.

If you change a screen’s resolution, you change the number of pixels on the screen, which means you change the size of each pixel.

That’s obvious. I should have think about it.
I was thinking using images with text; this insight modify my approach as it does for fixed size.
